Sustainability at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi

Our commitment to Net Zero Carbon Emissions

ADNEC Group has pledged to achieve net zero carbon operations by 2045, five years ahead of the UAE's national Net Zero 2050 target. This is guided and implemented through our Decarbonisation Roadmap, developed in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and in alignment with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative.

Since 2025, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi has run entirely on clean, renewable electricity, powered by EWEC and verified through International Renewable Energy Certificates issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. We're also developing a 5 MWp rooftop solar PV system, expected to meet nearly 30% of the venue's electricity demand and cutting annual emissions by over 3,200 tonnes of CO2e.

ADNEC Group Health & Saftey Policy
ADNEC Group Business Continuity Management (BCM) Policy

In addition to working towards becoming a sustainable venue, we run an annual 'Think Green' campaign which incorporates a community initiative named 'Stop and Donate', inviting visitors and staff to donate unwanted items for reuse or recycling in support of the Red Crescent.

Our in-house sustainability initiatives include:

  • 1

Recycling used cooking oil onsite to create biodiesel, powering small machinery around the venue.

  • 2

Composting food waste: our onsite biodigester processes up to 500kg a day, around 182,500kg a year, diverting food waste from landfill.

  • 3

Investment in solar and water-saving technology: a 5 MWp rooftop solar PV system in development, plus water consumption down 9% and water intensity per visitor down 31% year-on-year.

  • 4

Recycling exhibition material: 914 tonnes recycled in 2025, exceeding target and lifting our recycling rate to 60%, up from 52.7% in 2024.
