ADNEC Group has pledged to achieve net zero carbon operations by 2045, five years ahead of the UAE's national Net Zero 2050 target. This is guided and implemented through our Decarbonisation Roadmap, developed in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and in alignment with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative.
Since 2025, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi has run entirely on clean, renewable electricity, powered by EWEC and verified through International Renewable Energy Certificates issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. We're also developing a 5 MWp rooftop solar PV system, expected to meet nearly 30% of the venue's electricity demand and cutting annual emissions by over 3,200 tonnes of CO2e.

We take our role as global citizens seriously and are committed to ESG and sustainability, working towards becoming a fully sustainable venue. ADNEC Group's Strategy & Sustainability team is supported by our ESG Committee and ESG Champions, and we're an active member of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group.
Investment in solar panels and water saving technology In addition to working towards becoming a sustainable venue, we run an annual ‘Think Green’ campaign which incorporates a community initiative named ‘Stop and Donate’, this year, the programme collected over 2,500kg of items for donation to the Red Crescent or recycling.
Recycling used cooking oil onsite to create biofuel to power all onsite diesel powered engines i.e. buses, cherry pickers and forklifts.
Composting food waste: diverted over 75 tonnes of food waste from landfill last year
Recycling exhibitions material: 1,444 tonnes recycled in 2019 - exceeding target by 10%

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG) promotes sustainability management in Abu Dhabi by providing learning and knowledge sharing opportunities for government, private companies and not for profit organisations in a spirit of cooperation and open dialogue.
The ADNEC formally joined ADSG in 2012, and since then we have actively participated in a number of development workshops.
An Abu Dhabi government initiative, this ground-breaking global forum unites thought leaders, policy makers and investors to address the challenges of renewable energy and sustainable development.
ADNEC as a venue and services provider is proud to work closely with Masdar (the key owner of this event) to make ADSW and its World Future Energy Summit the largest gathering on sustainability in the Middle East and a significant forum in stimulating international dialogue and action.
ADNEC is a member of the UFI Sustainability Development Committee. The UFI Committee on Sustainable Development was formally established in 2008 to support UFI as it focuses on the issue of Sustainable Development in the Exhibition Industry.
ADNEC was one of six members who actively helped the UFI Sustainability Development Committee create the Sustainability Reporting Framework for the exhibition industry.
ADNEC Group partners with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) to power ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi entirely with clean energy. Through International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs), issued by the International REC Standard Foundation and verified by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, the venue is recognised as the first and largest exhibition centre in the Middle East fully powered by clean energy.
EWEC, the sole procurer and supplier of water and electricity in Abu Dhabi, is driving the UAE’s energy transition by expanding renewable power and low-carbon water desalination.
